What’s the appeal
It has been estimated that South Africa’s 2010 World Cup TV coverage reached nearly half the world’s population with the final between Spain and the Netherlands viewed by over half a billion people! The World Cup was even watched in Antarctica and the Arctic Circle.
FIFA’s Big Count Survey in 2006 showed that participation in football was increasing, in particular amongst women. It was estimated that between 3-‐4% of the world’s population were actively involved in the playing/officiating of football.
Football remains the world’s favourite sport and is the perfect vehicle to reach individuals in communities locally and abroad!
