SAB – National Championships 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 by admin

“Since the year 2000, SAB’s proud partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) has laid a solid foundation for talent identification, resulting in over 30 000 youngsters nationwide working hard towards a football career. More than 15 years later, the SAB League has firmly established itself as the largest and most successful grassroots football development league in the country.” Ms. Mpho Sadiki: SAB – Head of Sustainability

Footballers 4 Life was appointed as the official training partner to deliver The Complete Player™ programme. The initial training took place at the Skills Camps in Kimberley and Pietermaritzburg, where F4L conducted training to players before they reached the finals. This guaranteed far greater reach. The programme seeks to educate and empower youth on life skills that will equip them to make positive lifestyle choices. The programme also addresses key development modules to ensure the players have the tools to plan and execute their future goals. F4L then conducted a more in depth training for 250 SAB league players on 9 and 13 July 2016 which was met with much zest and positive engagement from the participants, SAB and SAFA.

Through the training F4L is assisting SAB to reach their  goal of sufficient qualified players and coaches by 2022.

The Complete Playermodules covered over the 2 days were:

  • HIV and AIDS
  • TB and HIV
  • Alcohol and Substance Abuse
  • What it means to be a man
  • How to be a Role Model
  • Career development
  • Decision making
  • Handling my money

F4L believes The Complete Player™ programme will provide the players with important foundational tools to tackle the challenges of life and football that lie ahead.
